Dell to Launch Mobile Phones in India

Dell Mobile Phones
Dell, a company that you would normally associate with laptops and desktop PCs, is now getting into the mobile phone business here in India.
The company has launched a major ad campaign in all major newspapers inviting “distributors” for their mobile phones though the timeframe is not exactly clear nor do we know the kind of phones that they are planning to sell in India.
Except for Android based Dell Aero and Dell Streak, which is more like a mini-tablet than a smart phone, Dell has little to offer as far as phones are concerned. There are reports that Dell is working on a Windows Phone 7 based device called the Dell Lightning but we don’t know if this is real.
The mobile market in India is huge but it’s a fairly price-sensitive one at the same time – most people still prefer a BlackBerry or a Nokia smartphone over an iPhone. It will therefore be interesting to see what Dell has in store for Indian mobile users.

Built for Google Chrome: gBook on the way?  Is there a Google-branded netbook on the way? Google's been talking about working with a variety of manufacturers to be sure its Chrome OS runs well, but now multiple sources are saying Google will hire an unnamed netbook maker to build a device specifically for Chrome OS, working from a recipe of Google's detailed tech specs.
We might be seeing such a refined gBook by next Christmas. By then, there will even more tiny and powerful processors from which to choose, giving this net-connected laptop plenty of oomph.
This is a great idea, Google. Like Apple, when you have control over both the hardware and the software, near-perfect integration is possible. On the other hand, naysayers might argue that hardware is not part of Google's core competency. But this is not about Google making hardware — it's about control. Either way, if Google makes it cheap, and might just be a big hit.

Dell Vostro v13 laptop: Cheap and pretty  Dell still has us in deep-want mode for one of those elegant Adamo XPS laptops, but we just can't get over their way-too-high price. You can imagine our astonishment when we saw the Dell Vostro V13, looking a whole lot like that line of svelte Adamos, but costing a mere fraction of their price, starting at $450. Do we no longer have to choose between two of the following: good, fast, and cheap?
Could be. You get a lot for your money, — the 13.3-inch-screened Vostro V13 brings respectable specs. At .65 inches, it's plenty thin, and weighs a mere 3.5 pounds. Processor choices include a 1.2GHz Celeron, 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo, or 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo, and there's even room for other niceties on board such as an Ethernet port, eSATA, and SD and ExpressCard slots.
It's great to see Dell bringing high design down into the low

HP Envy 13 makes those cheap netbooks enviouser end. We're starting to think that before too long, all laptops will be designer-gorgeous. It's about time.We liked the HP Envy 13 laptop when we it was first announced a couple of months ago, but now that we've gotten our hands on one, we like it even more. This 13.1-incher is chiseled out of aluminum on top and magnesium on the bottom, as if it were created by a master sculptor. It gives new meaning to the words thin and light, where its 0.8 inch thickness and 3.74-pound weight make it easy to fit into even the most cramped carry-on.
Before you reject this laptop for its $1799 price (see specs here), one look at the stunning 1600 x 900 display, one session of compressing a video file at astonishing speed with its 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL9600 Processor, or one listen to its special "Beats" circuitry for its headphone jack will demonstrate that you get what you pay for when it comes to premium laptops.
The highlight is the spectacular screen, LED-backlit with the brightest picture, sharpest resolution, most accurate color, and highest contrast of any display we've ever seen this side of an OLED panel. It's simply the best screen we've ever encountered on a laptop. That alone would make it worth its premium price.
If you're looking for a cheap notebook just to surf the web, wait until next month for the newest Intel Atom chip to grace the value-priced netbook lines. But if you're a traveling photographer or digital video editor who needs excellent color reproduction for proofing photos on location, or quick-rendered color correcting for video, this is your laptop.

Touchscreen Notebook: Boom in 2011

hp touchsmart Touchscreen Notebook
Although this analysis will happy when companies invest in the field of computer touch screen, the information gleaned should be studied carefully. Leslie Fiering, an analyst at Gartner, states that the adoption of touchscreen notebooks will be less important in the business sector and small enterprises, so as not to exceed 10% in 2011. Why? Simply because the professionals have difficulty in moving from traditional couple keyboard / mouse to touch screen in their work.
Users, especially young people, brakes would not use a touchscreen laptop. However, PCs will touch much more widespread over the next  years compared to 2012, when they accounted for 2% of sales. The feature that wins most consumers is the presence of multitouch, a technology that took off thanks to Apple iPhone. The multitouch technology, which appeared in the months ahead also on computers, is supported natively by the operating system Microsoft Windows 7, launched in October 2011.
When those who choose to purchase a touchscreen notebook users are often attracted by the possibility of more complete multimedia experience thanks to multitouch, like playing movies, newspapers and ebooks, and to a lesser extent video games. American schools would be particularly interested in the computer touch screen representing a potential educational interesting (not books, can draw graphs, etc etc) because you can deal with elements on the screen through one or more fingers or a stylus.
To ensure proper dissemination of computer touch, you must follow the software component development hardware. It would be a big mistake to invest in touch screen devices and not really use them only with a limited number of applications.

DELL LAPTOP

This was a weird problem a friend of mine ran into with a easy solution. The solution was easy, but it was a solution that I wouldn’t think would have to be done. Let me explain…
Dell-LaptopMy friend has a Dell laptop, cant remember which model, but its about a year old, its a 17 incher, has a 3.2 ghz Core 2 Duo processor, a Geforce 8400 video card and vista. He had this laptop for about a year and decided to sell it to one of my coworkers. We sat down to wipe the harddrive and do a full system restore. Got the disc he made from the recovery partition and went to work.
A little background, My friend who owned the laptop hadn’t done any “out of the ordinary” usage of the laptop, and was still on the initial install since the purchase. his use was moderate as it wasn’t his main PC. No configuration or hardware changes. It was pretty much in the same state as it was when he got it from Dell, should be easy right?
Well we started the recovery and went through the motions. The laptop was installing Windows and all we had to do was wait. After about an hour we came back to check and noticed the system was stuck on the last step of the install. We gave it a few more minutes, then decided to start over.
Got the same result 4 times in a row. Restore is going fine then it gets to the last step and hangs. after a while we gave up, and of coarse he lost his sale.
Later that night, he was trying to figure out what was going on with no luck. was just about to call Dell’s tech support when he found the solution to his problem (at a website other than Dell’s). What he had to do was go into the Bios, and switch the harddrive (a sata drive) from ATI to AHCI. He did so and it reinstalled windows like a champ. The thing he was thinking (I was too) why would you have to make a change like that if you never changed it in the first place? You would think it would already be set to AHCI being that it needs to be set to AHCI to install Vista? He brushes it off as a sneaky way to get you to pay for tech support. I don’t know if I agree but it does seem a bit odd.

DELL RANDLAPTOP

Dell is now contribution Intel̢۪s Centrino Duo mobile technology with up to 2GB of 667MHz dual-channel DDR2 memory in its fresh Inspiron E1705 entertainment notebook.
The notebook features high-end mechanism and is obtainable now from Dell̢۪s Web site preliminary at $1999.clientele can opt for either an Intel Core Duo processor T2500 (2GHz) or a T2400 processor administration at 1.83GHz. The unit̢۪s 17-inch widescreen display has a normal maximum resolution of 1400 by 1050 but a 1600-by-1200 UXGA option also is accessible.
The Inspiron E1705 features NVidia̢۪s newest 256MB GeForce Go 7800 graphics controller, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, a 60-100GB 7200-rpm SATA hard disk, and an optional USB 2.0 TV tuner that is compatible with its Windows Media Center Edition 2005 operating system.
The E1705 also has better-than-average notebook noise, including a subwoofer. Front media buttons let you pop in a DVD or CD, or even supervise the digital photos on your hard drive, with no booting up the notebook itself. The unit replaces the Inspiron 9300 series, which will gradually vanish this district.
ABOUT DELL XPS M2010
It̢۪s not easy life form king of the mount. In spite of being the main and one of the most gainful computer manufacturers worldwide, Dell does not have the personality of an Apple, the blue-blooded reputation of IBM or the glamour of Sony. What it does tender to consumers are attractive all-year-round discounts due to the lower costs sustained by its direct sales model and outstanding supply chain management. Arbitrator from its success, this commerce model works but Dell just does not inspire the same kind of brand loyalty that Apple or Sony can.
The company̢۪s recent acquisition of enthusiast oriented PC boutique firm РAlien ware -may be a sign that Dell is aware of its moderately bland image and aims to broaden its appeal to this niche. However that doesn̢۪t mean that its own XPS enthusiast line of computers will be neglected to play second fiddle, for the hip quotient for a Dell product just went through the roof with the latest XPS notebook, (if a monster of a system weighing more than 8kg could still fit that account) the Dell XPS M2010. A prototype was showcased at this year̢۪s Consumer Electronic Show as a concept PC but apparently, it has crossed in surplus of from life form a fancy idea to reality. And like what its marketing praise claims, it̢۪s certainly a showstopper.
The remarkably huge Dell XPS M2010 ‘notebook’ has a magnificent 20-inch widescreen LCD display. And no, that glossy circular thing is neither the subwoofer nor the drink coaster. It’s actually a cool slot-in DVD drive.
Picture a high-end performance desktop squeezed into the form factor of a notebook and you̢۪ll get the Dell XPS M2010. However, its enlarged dimensions will stretch your idea of a notebook though Dell seems to be trying to de-emphasize the notebook aspect in its marketing. Decked out with the some of the best hardware mechanism that would put gaming rigs to shame, it is an exceptional integration of form and function that show off the company̢۪s engineering and design prowess. It̢۪s so unlike Dell̢۪s typically nameless black boxes or their useful but barely sexy notebooks. In case you̢۪re not convinced, how would you like to own one of these?
The adjustable screen can be brought forward so that it look like your orthodox notebook. However, you won̢۪t be able to admission the DVD drive then. In any box, adjusting the screen to any height or angle within its routine means is easy, and surprisingly feels robust too.

DELL XPS 17 REVIEW

  • Dell XPS left side
  • Dell XPS 17
  • Dell XPS ports
  • Dell XPS left side
  • Dell XPS 17
Dell reserves the DELL XPS brand for its high-end systems, which are a cut above anything else the DELL company sells. The entire DELL XPS laptop range has recently undergone a complete design overhaul, and the XPS 17 is the first model we’ve seen in the new design. The lid and wrist rest are made from sheets of anodised aluminium; the sharp lines and neat curves look very sleek. All that metal certainly adds to the bulk of the laptop, which weighs in at 3.4kg. This makes it less than practical for working on the move, but with lots of powerful components inside, it's ideal as a desktop PC replacement.
Dell XPS 17
With a Core i5-460M processor and 4GB of memory, theDELL XPS 17 should be powerful enough for almost any task. In our multimedia benchmarks, an impressive 94 overall confirmed that only the most intense multi-threaded applications will prove taxing for the DELL XPS. An Nvidia GeForce GT435m dedicated graphics card provides enough power for high definition video and can also manage gaming. In Call of Duty it produced 36fps, so with a few minor tweaks it should play most games at the screen's native resolution of 1,600x900.
The 17.3in screen is a high-quality example. Individual pixels were hard to pick out from a distance and the overall image clarity was very sharp. Brightness was only average, but contrast was excellent and colours were both vibrant and accurate. Viewing angles aren’t particularly great, but by placing the hinge on top of the body rather than at the edge, there’s much greater tilt range to find the right angle. Thanks for shoosing dell laptop.

ZAGGmate with Keyboard for iPad laptop reviewed in next year

Zagg isn’t the first company to build a physical keyboard into an iPad laptop case. But unlike most approach entirely. In fact it doesn’t even take the path of most iPad laptop cases, which generally cover the iPad’s laptop rear metal surface but leave the screen open. Instead, the ZAGGmate is a brushed metal front piece which seals off your iPad’s laptop screen for travel purposes. Hidden inside is a physical keyboard with a fold-out leg which allows you to stand your iPad laptop up on the ZAGGmate with the keyboard positioned directly in front of it. The end result is that the iPad and keyboard are positioned about the same as they would be with fold-open or book-style iPad laptop keyboard cases, but wow does the ZAGGmate take a different path to get there.
A product like this must be evaluated on two levels: its suitability as both a case and a keyboard. As anyone buying this product is clearly doing so because they’re in need of a physical keyboard for their iPad, I’ll start with the latter first. The keyboard is very similar to Apple’s own iPad keyboard dock, with all the iPad laptop specific keys across the top row. The main differences are that the ZAGGmate has a pair of Function keys wedged in there, and the arrow keys are arranged differently. The keyboard runs the entire width of the case’s interior, making it only a small fraction of an inch narrower than the longer side of your iPad laptop, for reference. The keys are chiclet style and pretty easy to type on; if not for the fact that they’re right up against each other, the keys on the ZAGGmate would remind me of the keys on Apple keyboards which each have space between.
Because the iPad laptop leans freely against the fold-up leg (and because the wireless bluetooth connection means the iPad’s docking port isn’t involved), you can position it in either portrait or landscape mode depending on your preference. This gives you added flexibility over a lot of other iPad keyboards, many of which force you to live with one orientation or the other. The ZAGGmate charges via an included micro-USB cable (no wall plug included), and while it doesn’t charge your iPad laptop, you can plug your own iPad charging solution into its docking port if you’re so inclined (in landscape mode this is easy; in portrait mode the iPad’s docking port is obscured, meaning you have to set the iPad upside down and let the screen auto-rotate so its docking port will be accessible on top).
As a case, the ZAGGmate is thought provoking to say the least. It seals off the iPad laptop’s screen along with all ports and controls (except the docking port), meaning that it’s clearly meant for stowing your iPad laptop as opposed to protecting it during active usage. The brushed metal of the ZAGGmate matches the brushed metal of the iPad’s rear surface almost to a tee, making the whole thing look like just a generic slab of metal, save for the Apple logo on the back. That’s all well and good, but it does leave the rear surface of your iPad exposed. With Zagg being the maker of the Invisible Shield thin clear plastic protective film, their idea is to just use their film on the iPad laptop’s rear surface. And that’s valid, if all you’re protecting against is scratches, which Invisible Shield is excellent at. But as the rear surface of my test iPad can attest, impact dents are just as much of an issue – and the ZAGGmate combined with Invisible Shield isn’t going to protect against that.
That said, the ZAGGmate is the best portable iPad keyboard to come through Beatweek’s offices this year. It’s not quite as natural to type on as Apple’s official iPad laptop keyboard dock, but it’s close, and Apple’s dock is not really a travel-oriented product. It feels like it should come with a hard backpiece to truly protect the iPad all around during travel, but other than that it’s a winner.
There’s also a $69 version of the ZAGGmate that doesn’t have a built-in keyboard, but I haven’t tested that version.

Dell Venue Pro to arrive next year, if you ordered by the 14th of April 2011

dell venue pro1 Dell Venue Pro to arrive next week, if you ordered by the 14th
The saga of the Dell Venue Pro continues with Dell reportedly now claiming Venue Pro handsets ordered by the 14th of April will ship in time for Easter. This is a radical departure from the previous rumor which suggested the Venue Pro had been pushed off until as late as Januar 2010  because of “several issues reported with this product.” According to this earlier statement attributed to Dell, the Venue Pro was being reworked in the factories and shipment would begin when the fixes were complete. This latest report suggests these issues may have been resolved sooner than expected and the Windows Phone handset is being manufactured and shipped en masse.
It has been along road for Dell and the Venue Pro. The Venue Pro was expected to go on sale at the beginning of April from Dell’s website but only a handful of handsets were ever released. Reports of SIM card errors, prototype batteries left inside handsets and WiFi connectivity errors plagued the phone. While the ordering page has remained live, the ship date for the handsets keeps getting pushed off.
Earlier this week, we, and every other tech blog, wondered what has happening with the Venue Pro. It has been over a month since Windows Phone launched in the states and the handset has not yet landed in the hands of consumers in mass quantity. Dell’s failure to provide a reasonable explanation for these delays and its contradictory statements are only making a bad situation, worse. Let’s hope Dell can put this mess behind them and start getting this Windows Phone handset into the hands of customers very soon. Please it waiting for you go and get your own immediatly before it will be too late very sheap i love dell product thanks.

20 million Asus Laptops and Netbook expected to be sold in 2011

Asus have revealed its target of selling six million netbooks and 14 million laptop PCs over the course of 2011.
An already extensive range of PC products has seen Asus become one of the largest technology businesses in the world in recent years and the Taiwanese company has set its sights firmly on further growth during the next 12 months.
Indeed, the company is looking to establish itself as the third largest supplier of laptop computers to markets worldwide, a position
Strategies are set in motion to see these ambitions come to fruition, with enterprise markets particularly expected to be targeted by Asus and its leading laptops and Eee PC netbooks.
A report from the DigiTimes in Taiwan suggests that while some companies in the sector are concerned that the growing popularity of tablet PCs will impact negatively on netbook sales, this outlook is not yet shared by Asus, which is anticipating an 11 per cent rise in its Eee PC shipments next year.
The latest pronouncements from Asus follow an international sales meeting this week, after which company bosses made clear that they want to take a healthy share of the non-Apple, or non-iPad, tablet PC market over the course of the next few years.
currently being vied for by both Dell and another Asian powerhouse Acer.

Experience drives our innovation that's why we're the toshiba laptop expert.

I love my Toshiba! I had another laptop but the Toshisha after all the updates and installations has still been going fast and moving with my speed. It never seems to miss letters while I type and get things in. the processor is efficient and at I got it at a good price. Haven't had problems with freezing keyboard or monitor...the processor has been keeping up. fast, updates are still done, and there is no slowing this machine down. I love it. when you have a short amount of time to do alot of work and need to get it done fast...you need something fast to keep up. start up fast. shut down fast. Thanks to Toshiba I can get what I need to get done on line on my computer & still get my housework done & get cooking done as well. Get this Toshiba Laptop, it can help in so many ways! This is my second Toshiba laptop that I have owned. Upgraded to this laptop because my old one was about 5 years old. So far this laptop has been pretty good. I can run adobe elements 8, itunes and surf the web at the same time. I like how sleek it is. The 16inch screen size is nice too. Keys are not to hard to get used too, I actually like them. They light up too which is neat. This laptop has a lot of great features. Still trying to get used to Windows 7 but overall I think this is a nice laptop. I debated on whether to get an intel i5 processor but ended up and getting the amd quadcore. So far so good..we shall see....I am using this laptop for personal use; web browsing mostly and some word processing. It has been perfect for my use. The display is big enough at 16" and the back-lit keyboard is very nice. My only 'wish list' item is that the power connection and USB ports be at the back of the machine instead of on the sides. The power connection is within an 1/8 of an inch of the DVR player and the USB ports on the right side cramp the use of an external mouse. Not a big deal because there is one USB on the left, but in the back would be preferable. I would recommend this machine for personal use, and I would buy it again. Thanks for choosing Toshiba laptop.

Toshiba, Acer tablets coming in 2011

We have two flavors of Toshiba products," Otellini said, speaking about the two lines of Atom processors for tablets. "One carries our PC legacy, the codename is Oak Trail. This is for the Windows environment. That's important for people who want the advantage of PC peripheral compatibility. All the printers in the world work, all the USB drivers in the world work. Any PC peripheral will work perfectly well with Oak Trail. [It is a] very solid, high-performance, low-power version of Atom," he said.
Otellini continued. "We have an even more optimized [Atom] version called Moorestown. For people who want the most lightweight, longest battery life, thinnest machine. It doesn't carry the PC compatibility. It's got the x86 instruction set, so Internet compatibility is there, but we're not worrying about legacy support [in Windows]," Otellini said.
"Consumer [tablet] products will roll out in the first half of next year on all three operating systems," he said.
Otellini also reiterated that getting Intel's chips into smartphones will take time. "It's a marathon, not a sprint." He said the second-generation Atom processor for phones, dubbed "Medfield," is "in customer sampling...for shipment [in laptop] in 2011 and 2012. You will see smartlaptops from premier-branded vendors in the marketplace in [the second quarter of] 2011 with Intel silicon inside them."

Toshiba Satellite A665-3DV is a Satellite A665 series with 3DV, it is also a powerful performer, and solves a big problem with 3D gaming by building in all the required 3D-compatible hardware + remote controle and mouse. The good: I like the large touch pad, and the components, Nvidia's 3D Vision, Blu-ray drive are good.

We’ll have to wait and see if that is truly the case, but it should be exciting to see soon.
Other big releases include new notebooks in the following categories:
  • G Series (Gaming)
  • F Series (”Ultimate performance” laptops; Includes latest Intel processors and THX TruStudio Pro)
  • C Series (”Stylish” multimedia laptops)

  • WindPad tablets
The new generation of WindPad tablets will include Win-Tel and Android platforms, a G-Sensor gravity detecting device, an ALS light sensor, and Wi-Fi. They’ll also be “chic.”

Ask Lifehacker: Where Can I Find User-Friendly DVD Players?

Dear Lifehacker, I would love if Lifehacker did a story on the most user-friendly DVD players available in Australia right now. We often buy a DVD or two each Christmas for my 84-year-old grandmother, but the problem is she really struggles to get them to play. In a way VHS seemed easier, just push in the tape and play – no fiddly menus to get lost in!
I remember LG had a player which simply by-passed the menus and played the main movie – but who knows what the model number is. Anyway, would love to see a story on this if possible so I can shop for a new player for Nan! Cheers, Mark
